THE CHOICE
JOSHUA 1:8 “DO NOT LET THE BOOK OF THE LAW DEPART FROM YOUR MOUTH. MEDITATE ON IT DAY AND NIGHT AND BE CAREFULL TO DO EVERYTHING IN IT.”
How much time do you spend watching TV?
How much time do you spend on your computer?
How much time do you spend on your phone?
I was at a seminar, and they asked those questions. Then the speaker asked one of the most important questions of my life.
How much time do you spend with God?
I was shocked! I went to chapel service but not much else. Then the speaker challenged us to spend 5 minutes a day with God. I can handle that! Then he added 5 minutes a day for a year. He asked us to make a covenant with God and raise our hand if we wanted to commit. I raised my hand that day. Did I ever forget? Yes, but as I prepared for bed the Holy Spirit would remind me of my covenant promise and I would return to my Bible or prayer.
Praise God because that day began my lifetime covenant to God’s word. I realized how much God wants to talk to me and teach me. If I don’t spend time with God, then I am declaring my independence from Him and saying, “I don’t really need You today. I can handle things on my own!”
I left out the last part of Joshua 1:8
THEN YOU WILL BE PROSPEROUS AND SUCCESSFUL.
Does prosperous mean wealthy? Not necessarily but you will be prosperous in God’s eyes. Does successful mean President of a large corporation? No, but again you will be successful in God’s eyes.
If we are obedient to verse 8…..
JOSHUA 1:9 “DO NOT BE AFRAID; DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED, FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD WILL BE WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO.”
