About The Ministry

Amos Martin Ministries is dedicated to bringing people to Jesus Christ and to helping them have a more meaningful relationship with God. “What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?” In his presentations, Amos asks people to consider this question deeply, and invites them to make a personal commitment to take “Time Out for God.”

Interest in his football and business career attracts people to the presentations, while Amos’ confidence and warm personality allows them to forge a deeper connection to God and the church. With a presentation that is inspirational, and guides people to a higher commitment to God.

Amos was born in Indianapolis, but lived most of his life in Kentucky where he attended Bardstown High School. He later earned a football scholarship to the University of Louisville. At U of L, Amos played for current ESPN College Gameday Analyst Lee Corso, who Amos calls one of the most inspirational people he has ever encountered. During his time at U of L, Amos and the Cardinals won the Missouri Valley Conference and played in the Pasadena Bowl.

After earning his degree, Amos was drafted in the sixth round of the 1972 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Amos, a linebacker (in both college and the NFL), played six seasons at the top of his profession, from 1972-1977.

His career year came in 1974, when he recorded three interceptions and scored one touchdown on a fumble recovery. While with the Vikings, Amos played in three Super Bowls: in 1973, 1974 and 1976. He was traded to the Seattle Seahawks the next year, and was forced into retirement after suffering a severe knee injury.

Amos founded Amos Martin Construction in Louisville while he was still playing football, and the company has built hundreds of beautiful homes and developed several desirable subdivisions.

He is a Board Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, past chairman of the FCA Golf Tournament and served as Chairperson for the Youth for Christ Golf Tournament for 20 years. Additionally, he has spent over two decades coaching youth football. He and his wife are active members of Southeast Christian Church. Amos has three children, Rick, Amy and Krissy, and four grandchildren. He and his wife hope to create a ministry with programs for married couples in the near future.
