MERCY AND GRACE

ROMANS 3:23 FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

As we were rushing to an appt., I noticed a hidden police car. Yes, prayers came instantly, and I hoped someone was napping. Not today. Flashers came on immediately and we (my wife’s fault) pulled over to accept the punishment. The officer approached and I immediately made excuses and said that I supported the F.O.P. He said he didn’t see my F.O.P. symbol. I was toast!! After listening to my story and watching my wife crying, he started writing. He finally handed me the paper which I passed on to my wife. She opened the paper and it said, “Be careful and slow down. Have a great day!” NO TICKET!!!….MERCY!!!

TITUS 3:5 HE SAVED US, NOT BECAUSE OF THE RIGHTEOUS THINGS WE HAD DONE, BUT BECAUSE OF HIS MERCY.

I did nothing to deserve the policeman’s mercy. We can’t do anything to justify God’s mercy. We can’t earn it! We can do good deeds, but we are sinners and unworthy of His mercy. However, God loves us so much that He will continually give us mercy if we come to Him and ask forgiveness.

PROVERBS 28:13 WHOEVER CONCEALS THEIR SINS DOES NOT PROSPER, BUT THE ONE WHO CONFESSES AND RENOUNCES THEM WILL FIND MERCY.

Now flashing back to my (wife’s?) speeding message. Had the officer given us the same “NO TICKET” note and then said,” Just in case you ever have a problem again, here is get out of jail free card for future use!”…….THAT’S CALLED GRACE.

We did nothing to warrant Jesus going to the cross and dying for our sins. But because of God’s loving mercy and his unbelievable grace, He sacrificed His Son so we might become His children.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound!!!

EPHESIANS 2:4-5 BUT BECAUSE OF HIS GREAT LOVE FOR US, GOD, WHO IS RICH IN MERCY, MADE US ALIVE WITH CHRIST, EVEN WHEN WE WERE DEAD IN OUR TRANSGRESSIONS—IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED.
