IS THERE ANY GOOD NEWS???

DEUTERONOMY 31:6 THE LORD YOUR GOD GOES WITH YOU; HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU.

We are constantly bombarded with negative news. Murders, earthquakes, floods, violent protests, etc. Can you remember a joyful news flash? Not many!! However, there is so much good ignored. Here are some amazing happenings locally:

FCA Fellowship of Christian Athletes has over 125 huddle groups active throughout Jefferson and adjoining counties!!! Our young people are meeting once a week and opening their hearts and minds to the Good News of the Gospel. If they average 25 (some have 75-100) per huddle, that’s over 3000 young people involved in Christian activities every week.

One of our local churches has had over 1000 baptisms since the first of the year! That is 250 baptisms a month!! And that is just one church!!!

There are prayer groups and Bible studies meeting every day and every night throughout our community. If you are looking to expand your Biblical knowledge there are group meetings waiting for you to join.

We can become discouraged with all the news, or we can look back on the life of Jesus. He had a lot to be depressed about. Jewish apostasy and legalism, Roman immorality, and domination. He was rejected, ridiculed, persecuted, tortured, and executed.  Did He become angry and vindictive?

LUKE 23:34 “FATHER, FORGIVE THEM, FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO.”

Jesus came back from the dead with an amazing hope for the world. He told us He would send the Holy Spirit so we could remember His words and enjoy the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control).

There will continue to be pessimistic news, but our Lord spoke these words:

JOHN 16:33 “I HAVE TOLD YOU THESE THINGS, SO THAT YOU MAY HAVE PEACE. IN THIS WORLD THERE WILL BE TROUBLE. BUT TAKE HEART! I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.”

With Jesus as our guide, we can overcome the world!!!
