FORGIVENESS

MATTHEW 6:14 FOR IF YOU FORGIVE MEN WHEN THEY SIN AGAINST YOU, YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER WILL ALSO FORGIVE YOU.

As we prepare for the Holidays, I know there are families that are not speaking to some to relatives or friends. Old grudges that were never settled and no one is trying to cure the past. Maybe the issue will never be settled but we can still forgive one another. Holding grudges harms each person individually and most of the time is insignificant to person you are mad at. The bitterness is like a wildfire and will continue to spread if not resolved. The plague of unforgiveness will steal your joy!

EPHESIANS 4:31 GET RID OF ALL BITTERNESS, RAGE AND ANGER, BRAWLING AND SLANDER ALONG WITH EVERY FROM OF MALICE.

Do you need an apology in return? Did Jesus ask anyone for an apology as He was being tortured, shamed, and eventually crucified. He died for us unconditionally and we need to forgive the same way. No expectations, just eliminate the poison that prevents the spiritual fruits of love, joy, and peace.

EPHESIANS 4:32 BE KIND AND COMPASSIONATE TO ONE ANOTHER, FORGIVING EACH OTHER, JUST AS IN CHRIST GOD FORGAVE YOU.

We have all sinned in this journey called life. Yet, despite all the dishonorable events in my life, my Jesus forgives me. How can I not forgive others?

COLOSSIANS 3:13 BEAR WITH EACH OTHER AND FORGIVE WHATEVER GRIEVANCES YOU MAY HAVE AGAINST ONE ANOTHER. FORGIVE AS THE LORD FORGAVE YOU

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, ask yourself:

  1. Is there anybody I need to forgive? (Matthew 6:15)
  2. Is there anybody I need to ask for forgiveness?  (Romans 8:1)
  3. Is there anything I need to forgive myself for? (1 John 1:9)
